Born in Kenya she attended primary school in the UK. She graduated in Medicine and in Creative Arts. Michelle’s work has appeared in \u003cem\u003eWorld Literature Today\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eHEAT\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eMeanjin\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eAustralian Literary Review, \u003cem\u003ePoetry Ireland Review\u003c\/em\u003e,\u003cem\u003ePoetry Review \u003c\/em\u003e(UK) \u003c\/em\u003eand has been recorded for the Goethe Institute. Her two collections of poetry have been shortlisted in national awards. She was awarded a mentorship in poetry from the Australian Society of Authors, highly commended in the 2009 Blake Poetry Prize, and in 2010 she received the Val Vallis Award and the Inverawe Nature Poetry Prize (minor).
