Luke Davies, The Entire History of Architecture and other love poems
Moving from the delicate to the robust — sometimes within the same poem — the poems of Entire History seem to cover a kind of bridging period that Davies' work was undergoing between Running With Light (winner of the Judith Wright Calanthe Poetry Prize at the then Queensland Premiere's Literary Awards) and Totem(which won various awards, including the Age Book of the Year and the South Australian Premiere's Award); strands of both can be seen here. Entire History sold out almost immediately, and remains Davies's rarest book.
Luke Davies is the author of three novels (most recently God of Speed) and four volumes of poetry (the latest, Interferon Psalms, won the inaugural Prime Minister's Literary Award for Poetry). Davies' poetry collection Totem won the South Australian Premier's Literary Award for Poetry, the Grace Leven Poetry Prize, the Age's Poetry Book of the Year Award and the overall Age Book of the Year Award, an unusual feat for a book of poetry; in 2004 Davies was also awarded the Philip Hodgins Memorial Medal for Poetry. Candy has been published in France, Spain, Germany, Israel, Greece, the UK and USA.
