Kit Kelen, green thought - green shade

During 2012, Kit Kelen was on sabbatical, living on his small farm in the Myall Lakes district of New South Wales —  painting, making poems and working on a book about the national anthems of the world. green thought - green shade offers the reader a sampling of Kit's current bucolic bent.

Christopher (Kit) Kelen (客遠文) is a well known Australian scholar, poet and painter, whose poetry has been widely published and broadcast since the mid seventies. The most recent of Kit Kelen's volumes of poetry are God preserve me from those who want what’s best for me, published in 2009 by Picaro Press, (Australia), in conversation with the river, published in 2010 by VAC (Chicago, USA) and China Years – Selected and New Poems published in 2011 (ASM, Macao; Flying Islands, Australia). Volumes of Kit's poetry have been published in Italian, Portuguese, Chinese and Swedish. Kit is an Associate Professor at the University of Macau where he has taught Literature and Creative Writing for the last twelve years. In recent years a number of largescale anthologies have resulted from his work in facilitating translation of Chinese poetry into English and Australian poetry into Chinese.
