Adrian Wiggins, Chooks
Chooks is Adrian Wiggins' second collection of poetry. It's a selection of layers and broilers, show-hens, old cocks and an Aussie Game bred for fighting. Otherwise look out for Hy-line Browns, Houdans, Frizzles and a Belgian d'Uccle showing good feed-conversion, some muscling and a high-range meat-yield.
Adrian Wiggins grew up in Dubbo, central NSW, and studied at the University of Sydney where he graduated in 1994 with an Honours degree in Australian Literature. His writing has appeared in Meanjin, Snorkel, Cordite, Southerly, Slope, Heat and Jacket (and Jacket2 too). He has also been collected in Calyx: 30 Contemporary Australian Poets. His first book, The Beggar's Codex, was published by Five Islands Press in 1994. In 1997 he was a founding editor of Cordite Poetry Review and later produced the first online editions in 1999. In 2010 he started www.sydneypoetry.com. He is Principal of Pure and Applied, a service design studio, and is currently studying for a Masters in Creative Writing at the University of Sydney. He lives in Newtown with his sweetheart Siobhan and three children.
