Eddie Paterson, gameshow.gameshow.
If Rob Brough from Family Feud were a book, this would be it. Remixing overheard gossip, half-forgotten phonecalls, movie reviews, memos, emails, text messages and other clippings, Gameshow. Gameshow. explores the absurdity of contemporary communication – in all its teeth whitened weirdness. In Eddie Paterson’s poetry the banal and beautiful eat one another.
So, the poetry. 'Gameshow'. One word. No prizes, but plenty of surprises. 'Game' as in he's pretty game to show us this and then censor it right in front of our eyes as though we are the ones dreaming it. And 'show' as in 'a show' of poems, each one getting funnier and each one a new kind of magician's trick. Eddie is the perfect host. – Kevin Brophy
