Louis Armand, Erosions
Published in 1999, Erosions is a precursor to the later volumes Land Partition (Melbourne: Textbase, 2001) and Inexorable Weather(Todmorden, UK: Arc, 2001), which together represent the author's most sustained engagement with landscape and ecology. Centred around the eight-part poem 'Land Partition', Erosions marks a break with pastoral lyric and introduces a formal experimentalism that come to characterise Armand's poetry during his subsequent collections and raises questions of cultural identity and emplacedness – themes that return, under an evolved stylistic, in his second publication from Vagabond, Letters from Ausland.
